21 May Spotlight: Local Home Furnishings in the 2021 Auction for Lincoln Park
After a challenging year-plus for all industries, one goal of the Auction for Lincoln Park is to embrace the city we all love by supporting our local businesses, artists and artisans, and service providers. Visit the Auction site to browse uniquely Chicago and Lincoln Park items and packages that you won’t find anywhere else, including local home furnishings and design options, which comprise this month’s Auction Spotlight.
This year, we’re thrilled to feature two exquisite pieces from Lee Weitzman Furniture. Weitzman’s workshop is on Western Avenue, and for creative shapes and the most sublime, exquisite woods employed in unexpected ways, you cannot beat his designs. He is a professor of Design at the School of the Art Institute and has been making strikingly original contemporary furniture for discerning clients in Chicago for almost 40 years. Weitzman Furniture offers customization options and will work with clients to realize a design they envision. For the Auction, Weitzman generously contributed an occasional chair made of a buttery black leather and gleaming stained maple. Also on offer is a two-drawer coffee table (a showroom sample) in natural birdseye maple with mother of pearl and black line detailing, perfect for an elegant sitting room, office, or lobby. Get your bids in quickly on these one-of-a-kind designs!
Looking to choose your own furniture pieces or home décor accessories? We’ve got you covered! Our virtual Auction features a $500 gift certificate from fourth-generation, family-owned Chicago furniture company Walter E. Smithe. And with a showroom right in the heart of the Lincoln Park neighborhood, you won’t have to go far to find custom looks to fit your space. Walter E. Smithe offers the best selection of furniture, home décor and accessories. They also offer free design consultations at in-store, at your home, or virtually, for maximum flexibility. This is Smithe’s second consecutive year in the Auction for Lincoln Park and we are so thankful for their support.
Finally, don’t forget about your home’s exterior. Make a statement with a hand-carved address sign from Ravenscraft Carving. This small, family-owned team handcrafts signs in Chicago from hand-selected, high quality, and sustainably-harvested hardwoods. Ravenscraft generously donated a voucher to the Auction and the winning bidder will work with Ravenscraft to customize a sign that reflects your home’s unique aesthetic.
Also reflecting high end Chicago design is Tom Stringer Design Partners, a Gold Sponsor of the Conservancy for three consecutive years. Tom and his firm were inducted into the Merchandise Mart Hall of Fame in 2015. We are grateful to have Tom Stringer as an ongoing supporter of the Conservancy’s work in Lincoln Park.
