In-Park Programming Resumes

Late Spring is here and we’re excited to once again offer in-person programming at North Pond, the Conservatory, and the Lily Pool!

In May, we resumed docent-led Wildflower Walks at North Pond and the Lily Pool. Guests took an in-depth tour of the sites’ spring blooms and got a peek at new plants just coming up. Our next North Pond Wildflower walk is on June 12th. Stay tuned for the date of our next Lily Pool walk. Tours are limited to 8 guests.

Also at North Pond, in the coming months you may start to see our North Pond Champions. The volunteer Champions raise awareness and answer questions about our upcoming ecological restoration of the site. You’ll know them by their green aprons and/or “Ask me!” buttons. We’re currently planning for a summer Champions training. If you interested in becoming a North Pond Champion, please contact rconant@lincolnparkconservancy.org.

We are also excited to welcome volunteers back to the Conservatory. Over 30 volunteers attended a new training program and are back in the Conservatory, proudly wearing their green aprons, answering questions, and helping visitors navigate the new Covid-prevention restrictions. We aren’t yet offering formal tours of the site, but are hopeful that we may be able to do so later this summer or in the fall. Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for more information.

Finally, volunteers are returning to the Lily Pool! We hosted two Lily Pool refresher trainings in May that helped our experienced docents to remember their favorite Caldwell stories, identify the site’s plants and animals, and once again enjoy the beauty of the Lily Pool. Look for docents at the Lily Pool on Fridays from 1-4, Saturdays and Sundays between 11-2.

We hope that you will visit us at one or all of these locations in the Park. Our docents, greeters, and visitor services volunteers are always happy to hear your stories and to share their knowledge with the public!
