27 Oct 2021 Stewardship Summary
Our volunteers play a key role in helping us beatify the Park and maintain the native gardens at North Pond Nature Sanctuary and the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool. Each year, from March to October, we host corporate volunteer groups and a variety of volunteer gardening groups to help us to restore the nature of Lincoln Park.
In 2021, we hosted 24 corporate work groups and an additional 34 volunteer workdays with our North Pond Gardeners. From March to the end of September, our hard-working volunteers spent a total of 1,976 hours weeding, planting, mulching, and picking up trash. This year, we hosted two large work events, Earth Day and Public Lands Day, that brought over 100 volunteers to the Park. With the addition of two new native gardens to our stewardship responsibilities–the Deming Underpass Gardens and the Goethe Monument Gardens–this year has shaped up to be productive and busy. Thank you to our hardworking volunteers for making our work possible!
If you would like to get involved in our North Pond Gardener volunteer program or have a group that would like to participate in a volunteer work day, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to receive emails about upcoming workdays, starting as early as March. Our Gardeners meets every other Saturday in the spring, summer, and early fall to help maintain habitat around North Pond Nature Sanctuary and Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool. Our organized groups can pick the day, time, and task(s) that works best for them during the season for a customized work experience. We look forward to working with you to help Lincoln Park in 2022!
