People with a Passion for Parks

 

Our philosophy is simple – form and maintain a positive relationship with every donor, volunteer and partner – and the rest will follow. We consider our supporters family, and as family, we share a common goal to work together for the betterment of Lincoln Park. Our volunteer Board of Directors believe in our responsibility to care for the environment, advocate for open space, and nurture peoples’ connection to our park’s nature and history. All our Board members either live near the park or grew up playing in the park and they spend significant time enjoying the park today with their children, grandchildren or pets.

We believe Lincoln Park is what makes living in the third largest city in the United States livable. It’s the “lungs of our city” giving us all room to breathe and it is important to everyone’s quality of life. So when we hear park visitors say – “It’s my park” – we understand completely.

Susan Fargo

Interim Executive Director

Susan has served on the Conservancy’s Board of Directors for 15 years and has been the official steward of the North Pond Nature Sanctuary since 2000. She is the CEO of her own company and a professional writer and producer.  She has a background in commercial property management and banking. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Northwestern University. Susan enjoys nature, movies, musical theater, and travelling the globe with her husband.

Aaron Hammond

Natural Areas Site Manager/Nature Educator

Earned a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Loyola University Chicago and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Geography and Environmental Studies. He has extensive experience working with native landscapes and our urban forest, as well as leading and educating volunteers. Aaron enjoys traveling, cycling, hiking, and live music at Chicago’s many festivals.

Rebecca Conant

Programs Manager

Earned a Masters in Environmental Biology as well as a bachelor’s degree in Geology, Studio Art, and Art History. She has extensive experience developing, managing and evaluating educational programs and leading volunteers. She enjoys hiking, bicycling, dancing, and photography.

Luciana Bonifazi

Development and Communications Assistant

Earned a Master of Arts Management degree from Columbia College and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Washington University. She is a skilled special event planner, business writer and social media marketer. Luciana enjoys improv and musical comedy, the outdoors, exploring Chicago and traveling.

Camille Rodriguez 

Seasonal Restoration Assistant

Earned a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design with a minor in Environmental Studies from Columbia College. Prior to joining us, Camille was a restoration assistant at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore where she helped preserve native landscapes. She assists Aaron Hammond to maintain the Lily Pool and North Pond, and also helps supervise our North Pond Gardeners Program.

Lily Pool Wedding Manager

Kevin earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Toledo and has vast experience in event planning and customer service. He enjoys cooking, hiking, biking, and movies. He is also a docent for the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool.

Lily Pool Wedding Supervisor & Office Assistant

Recently earned a bachelors degree in Environmental Science from DePaul University.  Emily has studied abroad interacting with new ecosystems and people from many cultures. She speaks Spanish and enjoys hiking, rock climbing, music and just sitting outside with her dog and a good book.

Lily Pool Wedding Supervisor

Earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Framingham State University and is now attending National Louis University to earn a Masters of Arts in Teaching. She is proficient in sign language, certified in first aid, and enjoys mountain biking and dance.

Chloe Belczak

Restoration Intern

A senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign completing degrees in Communications, as well as Sciences in Earth, Society and Environmental Sustainability.  She has experience conserving wetlands in Puerto Rico, and is certified in CPR and first aid. She helps maintain the Lily Pool and North Pond, and assists with our Corporate Workdays program.
